Fahey Schultz Burzych Rhodes Elects New Member

The firm is proud to announce the election of Helen “Lizzie” Mills as a Member of the firm.

Lizzie joined the firm in 2010.  Her practice focuses on municipal law and labor and employment law. Lizzie has gained extensive experience in collective bargaining and in grievance and interest arbitration, as well as handling administrative claims involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Michigan Department of Civil Rights, state and federal wage and hour divisions.  Her twin-focused practice enables Lizzie to provide advice and counsel on a day-to-day basis on the issues municipalities and employers face: how to operate a business or provide for a community while providing first-rate, cost-effective service to customers and tax payers.

In addition to her exemplary legal work, Lizzie volunteers her time serving the legal profession and community. Lizzie chairs the Ingham County Bar Association’s annual pro-bono “Ask a Lawyer” event, during which practitioners provide free legal advice to the public.  Additionally, she is the Chair-elect of the Board of Directors for Highfields, Inc. Ms. Mills was also named a “Top 5 Under 35” attorney by the Ingham County Bar Association in 2015.

Lizzie becomes the seventh equity member of the fifteen attorney firm.  The firm was started in 2008 with four attorneys. “We are delighted to welcome Lizzie as a Member in the firm,” said Mark Burzych, President of the firm.  “She has been an important part of our firm’s growth and she shares the firm’s commitment to timely, effective service to our municipal clients. This commitment, with Lizzie’s help, has contributed to our significant growth during the challenging times that have faced our state and our local governments.”

Fahey Schultz Burzych Rhodes PLC was founded in 2008 and has grown from 4 to 15 attorneys in the past 9 years.  It is a leading Michigan law firm recognized by Best Law Firms in America in four core legal service areas: Municipal services for more than 150 local governments; Franchise services to numerous franchised businesses; Public Utility services to Michigan’s largest electric and gas utilities; and Employment Law services for dozens of private and public employees.
