Thamara Sordo-Vieira

Thamara Sordo-Vieira brings a strong litigation background to her practice, handling matters across multiple areas in both trial and appellate courts. She began her career in complex medical malpractice and negligence cases before moving into insurance defense, where she represented clients in no-fault, professional liability, commercial and construction disputes, and coverage matters. This broad experience—representing insurance companies, businesses, individuals, and governmental agencies—gives her valuable insight into the many perspectives our municipal clients encounter.
Building on this experience, Thamara now advises local governments on a wide range of municipal issues, including water and sewer services, intergovernmental contracts, annexations, ordinances, governmental immunity, and conditional property transfers. She values trust, clear communication, and respect in every matter she handles, qualities that have earned her the confidence of her clients.
Thamara also contributes to the legal community through writing and speaking. She has authored case law updates for firm publications, recorded a podcast on governmental immunity, presented at no-fault seminars, and spoken to the Insurance Alliance of Michigan on recent Michigan Supreme Court decisions. She is active in the Oakland County Bar Association and related professional groups.
A native Spanish speaker, Thamara helps municipalities strengthen transparency and accessibility by ensuring clear communication with Spanish-speaking residents.
Outside the office, she enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, concerts, classic rock music, hockey and baseball, and watching stand-up comedy and scary movies. Most of all, she values time with her teenage daughter and their dogs.
Thamara has authored case law updates summarizing recent appellate decisions, recorded a podcast on governmental immunity, and presented at seminars and industry programs, including speaking to the Insurance Alliance of Michigan on the impact of recent Supreme Court rulings. She co-authored an article on Act 425 published in the September 2025 issue of Laches through the Oakland County Bar Association.
