Kayla Seger
Associate Attorney
Overview & Experience
Kayla Seger is an Associate Attorney in Fahey Schultz Burzych Rhodes’ Labor and Employment Practice Group, where she advises employers on workplace compliance, employee relations, and dispute resolution. Her practice is grounded in a practical understanding of how employment decisions affect daily operations, shaped by years of hands-on experience in human resources before entering the legal profession.
At FSBR, Kayla works closely with public- and private-sector employers on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including employee handbooks and policy development, labor contract interpretation, arbitrations, mediations, and unfair labor practice proceedings. She regularly conducts legal research, drafts internal memoranda and post-hearing briefs, and assists with client strategy for complex workplace issues. Having completed the firm’s Summer Associate Program and later serving as a Law Clerk, Kayla brings continuity, institutional knowledge, and a deep familiarity with the firm’s clients and practice approach.
What distinguishes Kayla’s practice is her prior professional background in human resources and organizational management. Before law school, she held progressive HR roles within large and highly regulated organizations, including a major healthcare system, where she partnered with leadership on compliance initiatives, union matters, investigations, training, and accreditation preparedness. That experience allows her to approach employment law not only as legal counsel, but also from the perspective of the decision-makers responsible for implementing policies in real time. The result is clear communication, close attention to detail, and practical guidance employers can apply with confidence.
Outside of the office, Kayla enjoys staying active through running, golf, and disc golf, and values spending time with her family.
